I hope you had a great weekend! This is a short week but we still have a lot of work to do.
Thursday, October 10th -Monday, October 14th – NO SCHOOL!
Friday, October 18th – Teal Team Math Test (Tentative)
Friday, October 25th – Green Group Math Test (Tentative)
Homework will not be taken for a grade this year, instead I will be assigning extra practice or incomplete assignments for work to do at home. This will help students understand the importance of practicing and studying at home, without a grade or deadline causing anxiety.
The teal team should work on workbook pages 307-308, and 313-314.
The green group should work on workbook pages 907-908, and 919-920.
Please check your child's agenda NIGHTLY. Teachers will be signing agendas for the first semester to teach responsibility. This is where you will find notes from the teacher, test dates, student homework, etc. I ask that you sign at least once a week so I can make sure it is being shown to parents. If I leave a note in your child’s agenda, I expect it to be reviewed and signed by you. It is your child’s responsibility to show you and then show me that they have received your signature the following day.
Test Dates- I will send out test dates and changes in my weekly blast.
Quizzes- In 5th grade, quizzes are unannounced. Students are expected to study nightly so they are always prepared.
Teal Team Math-We will be working on the 5th grade Unit 2: Decimal Operations: Adding and Subtracting. This week we will be focused on adding and subtracting.
Green Group Math- We will be working on the 5th grade Unit 5: 2-D Figures. This week we will be learning the vocabulary for this unit and introducing the hierarchy of quadrilaterals and triangles.
Social Studies- We will be starting our next unit, which is World War I. Our focus this week is on the causes of the war.
